A strawberry is composed of many small fruits, known as achenes, attached to a larger fruit. An achene is a single-seeded fruit, and the “seeds” of a strawberry are actually these achenes. Each achene is its own individual fruit, while the rest of the strawberry is considered an accessory fruit. In total, a single strawberry is made up of around 200 little fruits.
